Today’s Bible reading is I Corinthians chapter 6

(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)

“Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (I Corinthians 6:19-20)

“Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (I Corinthians 6:9-11)

Since we have been saved we are to glorify God in our bodies. Our body is the home for our soul and the dwelling place for God’s Holy Spirit. Out of gratitude for all that God has done for us the very least we can do is serve Him. Paul said, “I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)
Present yourself to the Lord, give all you know of you to all you know of Him. My hands, my feet, my eyes, my lips belong to Jesus. I must use my body to serve and glorify the Lord.

Prayer: “Dear Father, I surrender my body, the totality of who I am to You. Use me for Your glory. In Jesus name. Amen.”

Today’s Bible reading is Romans chapter 12

(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)

God has called His people to be living sacrifices. Being a sacrifice involves surrender. We must surrender ourselves to Jesus and submit to Him as King of our lives. Our body is the temple of God’s Holy Spirit and He dwells in us to perfect us. We can rely on Him for discernment to know God’s will and for strength to do His will. Not only must we surrender, but also we must be separated. The Bible says, “Be not conformed to this world.” The world has a mold that it tries to fit you into. Don’t conform to its practices, opinions, or belief systems. Not only must we be separated, but also we must be transformed. Transformation takes place as we meditate on God’s Word resulting in a change in our thinking. The battles of the Christian life are fought in the mind. Whatever shapes our thinking shapes our entire life. When our thinking changes our way of life changes. We learn what is the good and acceptable will of God. Finding and following the will of God is the secret for achieving anything worthwhile. Inside of the will of God there is no failure, outside of the will of God there is no success. Being a living sacrifice is the highest and most fulfilling calling known to man, and something we must do daily.

Prayer: “Dear Father, we present ourselves to You as living sacrifices on the basis of Your great mercy. Transform us into the image of Your Son Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen.”
