Today’s Bible reading is Romans chapter 12

(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)

God has called His people to be living sacrifices. Being a sacrifice involves surrender. We must surrender ourselves to Jesus and submit to Him as King of our lives. Our body is the temple of God’s Holy Spirit and He dwells in us to perfect us. We can rely on Him for discernment to know God’s will and for strength to do His will. Not only must we surrender, but also we must be separated. The Bible says, “Be not conformed to this world.” The world has a mold that it tries to fit you into. Don’t conform to its practices, opinions, or belief systems. Not only must we be separated, but also we must be transformed. Transformation takes place as we meditate on God’s Word resulting in a change in our thinking. The battles of the Christian life are fought in the mind. Whatever shapes our thinking shapes our entire life. When our thinking changes our way of life changes. We learn what is the good and acceptable will of God. Finding and following the will of God is the secret for achieving anything worthwhile. Inside of the will of God there is no failure, outside of the will of God there is no success. Being a living sacrifice is the highest and most fulfilling calling known to man, and something we must do daily.

Prayer: “Dear Father, we present ourselves to You as living sacrifices on the basis of Your great mercy. Transform us into the image of Your Son Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen.”
