Today’s Bible reading is 1 Peter chapter 3
(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)
God’s design for marriage has always been and will always be one man, for one woman, for one lifetime. It takes three to make a marriage; a man, a woman, and God. When Christ is the center of a home the marriage will stand. Many marriages are on the rocks because these marriages are not built on the Rock of Jesus Christ! For example, God wants the Christian wife to witness in the home. Now it is the Lord’s will for believers who are single, that if they should marry, to seek a Christian spouse. But for those who find themselves married to an unsaved husband for whatever reason, God has called you to be a witness in the home. The wife is a powerful witness by seeking godliness above all else. Do you spend as much time on the inward beauty of character and being like Christ than you do outward beautification? Think of how much energy and money some people spend to improve the outward appearance. Are you, as a godly woman, striving for inward unfading beauty? The Holy women of the Bible put their trust in God, and in this way made themselves beautiful. Husbands are called by God to love and greatly esteem their wives. Men are rough and hard by nature, but when relating to his wife the husband must be tender and understanding. This is how the man becomes most appealing to his wife. A godly man treats his wife in a good and God honoring way for the sake of His wife, and for the glory of God. A husband and wife who love each other, and love the Lord become a powerful force in united prayer. Couples that pray together stay together!
Prayer: “Father, give us godly, Christian homes. May we treat our spouses in the most loving way possible. Protect our marriages and families as we see the many obstacles that couples face today. In Jesus name. Amen.”
