Today’s Bible reading is James chapter 2
(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)
“Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?” (James 2:5 NKJV)
You may go through this life without ever having prestige or position, great wealth or prominence, but if you have Jesus you have everything! God, in His goodness loves the poor and lowly. He is not impressed by people or their achievements. God chooses to love us, not because of something good about us, but He loves because of His Holy character. God is love. He is so good that He loves even the lowest of the low. God is so different than us. We tend admire the most handsome or beautiful. We tend to favor those in high positions. It is our nature to give honor to the rich and famous, but God doesn’t work that way. He doesn’t love you because of something you have achieved or because of a position you hold. God loves you because He is just so wonderful and good that He does so. In Christ we can love and treat others kindly because of God’s grace in our lives. We never have to be guilty of favoritism again. The most loving thing we can ever do for any individual is to share Christ with them. God loved and even saved Rahab the prostitute. He loves the even the worse among us.
Prayer: “Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Amen”
