Today’s Bible reading is Titus chapter 1
(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)
Do you ever wonder why God has you in the place where you are? Titus was in a needed place. At Crete there were some things that needed to be set right. Some things were left undone and Titus was there to finish the job. Look around you and see what is lacking. Don’t wait for someone else to do the job, be the one to complete what is missing. If you are in a place where things are running smoothly and you aren’t needed, then you may be in the wrong place. The other reason Titus was needed at Crete was to enlist leadership. Jesus said, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV) No church or ministry will rise above its leadership. What is needed in spiritual leadership is character. Paul gave Titus a list of qualities to look for in leaders. Spiritual depth, holiness, and a strong commitment to the Word of God is needed for leaders to confront a godless culture. Spiritual leaders must out work, out preach, and outlive false teachers and false professors. Paul said their “mouths must be stopped.” (Verse 11) There is a great need today for leaders who can stand up to false teaching. Let’s do all we can to live lives of integrity that we may have power to effectively point men to the Lord.
Prayer: “Dear Father, place us where the need is great, use us to fill in what is lacking, may You raise up strong Bible men who can lead and produce disciples who are sound in the faith. In Jesus name. Amen.”
