Today’s Bible reading is I Corinthians chapter 9
(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)
Paul was willing to become all things to all men in order that he might win some. The Gospel was primary to the Apostle Paul and it should be our main focus as well. The Gospel must be at the heart of everything we do! How do we live a Gospel-centered life? Paul compared the Gospel-centered life to running a race. First, we must run with purpose. Paul said run that you may win, or obtain the prize. Secondly, run with power. Christ lives in us to give us victory over our flesh. Walking in the power of the Holy Spirit ensures victory. Thirdly, run with purity. Paul feared that after preaching the Gospel to others that he might become a castaway. To guard against being placed on a shelf he continued to surrender his body to the Lordship of Christ. Paul “kept” himself in a state submission to Christ. This requires daily presenting ourselves to God and His will for our lives. The result of the Gospel-centered life is to win an incorruptible crown, which will bring God glory!
Prayer: “Dear Jesus, give us Your heart for the Gospel. May we run the race and make it our highest aim in life to bring You glory by winning others to Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen.”
