Today’s Bible reading is Romans chapter 16

(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)

“I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a servant of the church…” (Romans 16:1)
Where would the church be without faithful women of God who love the Lord? It is worth noting that women of faith played an important role in Jesus ministry. There is no record of a woman opposing Jesus during His life. It was women who were first at the tomb of Jesus. A woman anointed Jesus and washed His feet with her hair. Women wept over Jesus at His trial and crucifixion. Reflecting back over my ministry God has placed some special women of faith in my path who have greatly influenced my life for God. Many of us have been impacted by the faith of a godly woman. Timothy was influenced by his mother and grandmother. I can relate to Timothy. I saw the love of God in my mother and I knew early on that there was something different about her. She is one of the reasons I am a Christian and a preacher of God’s Word today. God also used two Sunday School teachers; Lena and Flassie, to shape my life. They gave me my first Bible and taught me it’s rich truths. They may not have even realized how greatly God was using them in my life. Later when God called me to preach and at the age of nineteen I was pastor of a small church, there was a godly older lady that helped me. Ms Bessie would invite me to her home and we would discuss the Bible. I learned a great deal from her. She listened to my sermons and if I was off base she did not correct me publicly, but she talked to me in private and God used her to help me become a better preacher. In every church I ever served there have been godly women of faith of great value to me and the church. These have been spiritual sisters and mothers and precious to God. Like Paul I wish to pay them tribute for their contribution to the Gospel. Praise God for the Phoebe’s in your life who have been a blessing to your walk with God.

Take a moment and reflect over the godly women who have been a blessing to your life and give God thanks for them.

Prayer: “Lord Jesus, thank You for the faith of godly women who have greatly impacted my life. In Jesus name. Amen.”
