Today’s Bible reading is Luke chapter 22
(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)
The last few days of Jesus life were filled with many challenges for route Lord. First, consider Judas’ betrayal. His heart burned for gold instead of God. He saw an opportunity to gain wealth and betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. Judas help save a great problem for the religious leaders. He provided a way for them to arrest Jesus without the crowd being involved. Judas was led by Satan, not the Spirit. He was motivated by greed. Second day, consider Peter’s denial. Satan was able to enter Judas indicating that Judas was lost. Satan could only sift Peter since he was a true child of God. Jesus was fighting for Peter and eventually he would win the victory! It isn’t the mistakes we make in life but who we turn to when we fail that matters most. Not only was Judas betraying and Peter denying, but also we see Jesus was praying. His prayer meeting in the garden is unprecedented. He agonized in prayer until His sweat became blood drops. What an example of fervent prayer. The effectiveness of Jesus prayer life is one of the Great secrets of the Christian life. Now, who would you rather be like; a betraying sinner, a denying saint, or a praying Savior?
