Today’s Bible reading is Luke chapter 19
(Read the entire New Testament in 2014 by reading only one chapter each day)
Some of the sweetest words found in all of the Bible are recorded in Luke chapter nineteen, “For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Our Savior Jesus Christ is a Soul-Winner! Jesus was seeking out the lost when He found Zacchaeus. We know three things about Zacchaeus. We know that physically he was small in stature. We know that financially he was wealthy, and we know that spiritually he was a sinner. Zacchaeus was ambitious about seeing Jesus and even went to great extents by climbing a sycomore tree. Some folks may not be willing to go out on a limb for their spiritual experience but don’t tell that to Zacchaeus. Climbing a tree changed his life. Maybe Zacchaeus thought by climbing a tree it would make Jesus more visible to Him, but instead it made Zacchaeus more visible to Christ! Jesus looked up and saw him and said, “Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at your house.” Now Zacchaeus received the Lord joyfully into his home, but more importantly he received Jesus into his heart. Zacchaeus repented of His sin and placed his faith in Jesus Christ and was gloriously saved! Jesus declared that salvation had come to the life and home of Zacchaeus that very day. God is willing to save the worse among us. He seeks out the despised and rejected and offers them pardon and peace. Oh what a Savior!
Prayer: “Precious Lord Jesus, give us a heart for souls. Open doors for us to share our faith with lost sinners. Use us for Your glory. In Jesus name. Amen.”
